National Privacy Collection Statement

Your privacy is important.

Your personal information is being or has been collected by Cancer Council NSW ABN 51 116 463 846 (CCNSW), the entity which manages the National Donation Page on behalf of the Cancer Council Federation (defined below and also referred to as “we’” or “us”).

Donations and associated personal information are collected and held within a centralised donation platform.

As part of the donation process, your donation and personal information are attributed to the Cancer Council entity most relevant to you, based on the information you provide (including your State or Territory selection or address details), and made available to that entity through the donation platform. 

CCNSW and the other members of the Cancer Council Federation are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. This Privacy Collection Statement describes how your personal information is collected and handled when you make a donation.

By providing your personal information to us, you agree to its collection, use, storage and disclosure as described in this Privacy Collection Statement and the relevant Cancer Council Privacy Policy (explained below).  

What personal information is collected and why?

When you make a donation, we collect personal information from you. This may include your name, address, contact information, and details about payments from you to us.  

We collect your personal information so that CCNSW (and other members of the Cancer Council Federation) may accept your donation and provide you with receipts and acknowledgement, and so we can communicate with you for marketing purposes (with further information provided below about how to opt out from these communications.

Your personal information is also collected so we can keep you informed about related activities and news; evaluate and improve our programs and services; and for other purposes outlined in the relevant Privacy Policy. 

What happens if we do not receive your information?

If you do not give us the personal information we request, it may affect our ability to accept and process your donation or our ability to communicate with you moving forward. 

Who do we share your information with?

Your personal information is accessible to the relevant Cancer Council entity through secure access to the central donation platform, rather than being separately transferred or duplicated across systems. Your personal information may also be disclosed to other third parties, including: 

  • those who provide us with services or perform services on our behalf, including information and web-based technology service providers, cloud-based storage services, marketing and communication agencies, social media platforms, billing services, survey platforms, document signing platforms, database contractors, printers, support services and warehousing and fulfilment agencies; 
  • where we are required or permitted to disclose your personal information by law. 

If we share your personal information with others, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that they deal with your personal information appropriately.

How can you opt out of receiving marketing communications or contact us? 

Direct marketing emails and text messages will contain an ‘unsubscribe’ link that provides you with the opportunity to opt out. You can also contact Cancer Council NSW, PO Box 572, Kings Cross NSW 1349, 1300 780 113, or [email protected] to opt out of marketing communications received from CCNSW. Where you receive communications from another member of the Cancer Council Federation, the applicable Privacy Policy (linked below) will outline how to opt-out of these.

Will my information be disclosed overseas?

As a result of our using data hosting facilities or engaging third parties to provide goods or services, in some circumstances, your personal information may be disclosed to overseas recipients, including to recipients located in the USA, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Israel, Colombia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Romania, India and the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas third-party deals with your personal information appropriately and in accordance with Australian privacy laws.
